Work Orders & Diagnosis

Efficient repairs. Start the job from the customer’s request, authorize work, print job orders, and capture technician feedback.

Starting a work order

Work Orders start the repair the customer is requesting. From the left menu under Parts & Services, open Work Orders (Select Work Order to change). Click ADD WORK ORDER or open an existing ID if a job is already open.

Confirm the correct dealer location, then:

  1. Set the date
  2. Choose customer and vehicle (dropdown if multiple vehicles on file)
  3. Set Time In (date and time)
  4. Enter the Advisor name
  5. Under Service Overview, enter the customer’s description of the problem or request
  6. Use dedicated comment boxes for simple oil change or tire rotation when applicable
  7. Use additional notes and Advisor feedback boxes for future reference / invoice
  8. Open Forms (black tab) and print a Work Order for customer review and signature

After customer authorization

Once the customer authorizes the work, you can:

  • Print a Job Order for the service technician
  • Provide a hard copy of the work order
  • Assign the job through Techs & Feedback (black tab at the top of the page)

Technician workflow

With hard copies, techs can record parts used and time per repair. With login privileges, techs can use the Work Orders Tech & Feedback section to type diagnosis, enter parts used (if a service invoice record exists), and leave recommendations.

See Service Technicians for user setup and the DlTech permission group.
